Lemon, an Evergreen for Everything.

Did you know that the lemon tree is part of the evergreen family?

I’m just sad that doesn’t make it hardy enough to withstand a South Dakota winter! One of my bucket list items is to have a fruit-producing lemon tree, which means I’ll have to keep it in the house. I don’t even know what I would use the lemons for, they are just so beautiful and smell so good!

Lemon essential oil on the other hand, I can tell you plenty of uses for. And even somethings to look out for.

Lemon essential oil is actually distilled straight from the peel of fresh lemons and is one of the most popular essential oils. Its aroma is fresh, citrusy and zesty, which can lift your mood or act as a top note in perfume. Lemon oil is known for its cleansing properties, and it is widely used in skin care and home cleaning solutions. It is also an effective odor neutralizer when diffused.

Some of the lesser known uses for lemon oil are:

Removes sticky adhesive residue from surfaces
Provides immune and antioxidant support when taken internally
Can decrease nausea, whether due to illness, early pregnancy or too many drinks
Soothes the airways and has antiviral properties
May help focus and mental stamina
Triple threat against acne - antibacterial, astringent and accelerates healing
Powerful antifungal properties

When using lemon essential oil, please be sure to dilute it with a carrier oil (coconut, jojoba, sweet almond or grapeseed) before putting on skin, until you know what sensitivities you may have. Also, do not use it on areas that will be exposed to direct sunlight as it could discolor the skin. When ingesting, use an extremely high quality brand and only a drop or two. Diffuse according to your diffuser’s instructions, or inhale directly from the bottle.

If you would like to buy some lemon essential oil, email me, I have some on hand! I can even make you a custom blend to suite your needs. Now, I’m going to put add some to my diffuser and imagine having that lemon tree of my own. I guess manifesting is one more use for lemon essential oil.
